How To Clean Your Carpet At Home -Three Tips!

It is important o keep your carpets clean since shoes, pets and spills abuse them. Deep cleaning, vacuum cleaning, and spot cleaning can increase the life of any type of carpet. Allowing the solid particles and dust to remain on carpets can cause them to look dull and leave odors, which results in wearing out the carpet fibers and backing. Deep cleaning carpet removes dust particles, restores the fibers’ buoyancy, and enhances colors. If you are looking for carpets to decorate your home, contact the Decor Chantilly carpets store.

How to clean your carpet at home

  • Removing dirt and dust

Frequent use of a vacuum with strong suction is the best way to clean a carpet. But, if you do not have a vacuum, there are alternatives to cleaning carpets with a carpet weeper or old-fashioned broom.

  • Take time to move furniture and other items from the carpet area.
  • Keep the vacuum at a proper height to get the strongest suction.
  • Vacuum gradually and go over high-traffic regions a few times for the best results.
  • You can use a lint roller for cleaning crumbs.
  • Rolla rubber-edged squeegee to collect pet hair from the carpet.
  • Sprinkle baking soda to brighten and freshen the carpet. Keep the carpet for an hour or more to soak odors and oily stains, and vacuum it immediately.

  • Spot-clean stains

The perfect time to treat a carpet stain is by using the spot-cleaning method as soon as possible. For drink spills, immediately blot away the liquid with a white cloth or paper towel. Do not use a napkin or cloth which is not colorfast.

For dropped food or solid mud stains, you can use a dull knife or the edge of a credit card to lift away the solids. Do not rub stains with solids, as they will get deeper into the fibers.

Cleaning with distilled white vinegar

  • Treat visible stains and vacuum.

Always begin your cleaning process by cleaning spot stains and then run a vacuum cleaner to remove debris, soil, dirt, and dust. If you skip this step, you might push the soil deeper or around the fibers. Some stains like tar, oil, and pet accident may require special removal treatment.

  • Mix vinegar and water to prepare a solution

Mix one portion of white vinegar and three portions of water in a spray bottle. You have to refill the bottle a few times to clean the wall-to-wall carpet.

  • Apply the mixture and wait

Spray the vinegar water solution on the carpet when it is very damp. Never saturate. Follow a grid so that you will know where you have cleaned. Take extra precautions to clean an area rug and shield the floor underneath from moisture damage.
